The Origin

It began with a silence.

She was a die-hard Harry Potter reader — the kind who reread the books ten times over — and deeply suspicious of audiobooks. Then she heard Stephen Fry narrate them. Suspicion became curiosity. Curiosity became addiction.

Soon after, she read La Sa Ramamirtham’s short story Paarkadal aloud to Streedom, her women’s reading circle. When she finished, nobody spoke. A few were wiping away tears.

That silence became Kadhai Osai. She still records from a small home setup — often in a single take — to keep the modulation intact.

As Storytel’s Tamil Publisher & Curator, she built the Tamil catalogue from scratch — choosing what Tamil would sound like on the platform, then voicing much of it herself.
